General Auditions for the entire 2018-2019 Season will be held August 19-21 from 6:00-9:00pm. Below are directions on how to sign up for a specific time slot and what requirements are for your audition.

Please go here to register for a specific time slot. This will be your time. Drop-ins will be welcome, but only when there is space/time; the easiest way to secure your spot is to register beforehand. Registration will close on Saturday, August 19th.  If you need to change or cancel your time please let us know as soon as possible. Minors (16 and under) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Audition Length

Audition time slots are 10 minutes – this will give you enough time to perform your monologues and/or musical piece as well as any changes the directors may want to see.

Checking In

Please plan to arrive early to give yourself adequate preparation time. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early so you can check in and prepare for your audition.  The directors may also call you early if you are ready and they are ahead of schedule. Please enter the Evergreen Playhouse at the side door (signs will be posted).

You can also take that time to fill out the necessary paperwork and glance over the schedules and time commitments outlined for each show.

Memorized Monologues

Please come with two (2) contrasting monologues memorized. If you do not have a memorized monologue, cold reading monologues will be made available.

Musical Selections

If you are auditioning for a musical, please come with at least 16 bars of music and bring your own accompaniment. (A piano is available, but not a pianist.  Speakers will be provided if you’d like to play your music from your phone as a saved file or from YouTube). If you do not have musical selections or would like some suggestions, here are some for each part as suggested by the directors and vocal directors for this season (this does not mean that you are auditioning for the musical or part - it will just give each of the directors an idea of your ability):
SOPRANOS: "Come To My Garden" from The Secret Garden [Karaoke Version to 1:30]
ALTOS: "Adelaide's Lament" from Guys and Dolls [Karaoke Version - start at 2:20]
TENORS: "Lily's Eyes" from The Secret Garden {Karaoke Version]
BARITONES: "I'll Begin Again: Reprise" from Scrooge {Karaoke Version}
CHILD - MALE: "The Round Shouldered Man" from The Secret Garden [Karaoke Version - start at mm 37; 0:21 seconds in]
CHILD - FEMALE: "The Girl I Mean to Be" from The Secret Garden [Karaoke Version}

What to Bring

Please bring a current theater resume with a headshot/photo. If you do not have a photo, one will be taken before your auditions. Audition forms filled out will expedite the process.

What Happens After Generals?

The following Sunday-Friday (August 26-31), we will be holding Callbacks for specific shows. If a director would like to see you read for a part(s), you will be contacted to return. If you do not get a callback, this does not mean that you will not be offered a role! Callback emails will be sent each night and throughout the week - be sure to check your spam and junk mail folders.

What if I've Been in a Show at the EP?

Auditioners that have been on stage in a performance in one of the regular shows within the last two seasons at the EP have the option to send a letter of intent along with our form and a headshot instead of coming to Generals. After submitting your info by email or dropping off in person, you will need to attend any and all callbacks for shows for which you want to be considered. If you would still like to audition during Generals, you are welcome to sign up for a spot.

Callback Schedule (August 26-31 at 6:30pm):

8/26 (Sunday): STEEL MAGNOLIAS
8/27 (Monday): GUYS & DOLLS
8/28 (Tuesday): THE SECRET GARDEN
8/29 (Wednesday): BLITHE SPIRIT
8/30 (Thursday): SCROOGE THE MUSICAL

If a director (or directors!) would like to offer you a part in their show, you will be contacted by Sunday, September 2nd.
